Packing list
Weekend city break packing list, carry-on only
Choose how many nights and what the season is like. Clothes stay within what one cabin bag holds, and the list tells you what to wear on the journey instead of packing.

Tips for this list
- Choose one colour family for the trip. Three tops that all go with two bottoms give more outfits than six that do not.
- Wear the bulkiest items on the journey: coat, boots, jeans. The case then holds the light things.
- Put tomorrow's outfit on top of the bag so you can find it without emptying it in a small hotel room.
- Keep a small pouch for chargers and adapters; a cable left in a hotel socket is the item most often forgotten.
Questions
Can I do four nights in just a cabin bag?
Yes. The list caps tops at four and trousers at three, and assumes you rewear trousers and wash a top in the sink if needed. If you need more than that, you are packing for outfits, not nights.
What should I wear rather than pack?
The coat, the heaviest shoes and the thickest trousers. Whatever weighs the most or takes the most room is cheaper on your body than in the bag.
Do I need all the toiletries in travel size?
If you fly with hand luggage only, yes: liquids above the limit are removed at security. Solid alternatives such as a shampoo bar and stick deodorant avoid the problem, and most hotels supply soap and shampoo anyway.
